The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specific education and training in the care of hospitalized patients. The RN/APRN works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Lead Hospital Medicine physician and the Hospitalist team to evaluate, treat, and coordinate patient care.
Primary Duties- Examine patients and review medical history prior to admission.
- Perform and document a history and physical exam that is co‑signed by the attending physician within 24 hours.
- Place orders for appropriate diagnostic and treatment modalities as part of the care plan.
- Seek appropriate specialty and sub‑specialty consultations.
- Formalize the patient handoff process as part of continuity of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues that are part of the care team.
- Minimum Master’s degree prepared; curriculum must include didactic and clinical experience in acute care.
- Current Louisiana Registered Nurse License (RN).
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensure in Louisiana (APRN).
- Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana, as approved by St. Tammany Health System.
The Physician Assistant is employed by St. Tammany Health System to coordinate care of hospitalized patients under the supervision of the Lead Hospital Medicine physician and Hospitalist team.

- Current Physician Assistant Licensure in Louisiana (PA).
- Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana, as approved by St. Tammany Health System.
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort- Constant (67‑100%): hearing, seeing.
- Frequently (34‑66%): handling/feeling, talking.
- Occasionally (1‑33%): lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching, climbing (stairs, ladders etc.).
