You're the bridge between your patients, doctors, families and all the touchpoints of care. You embrace your role as a caregiver and teacher, preparing and educating your patient for home recovery and ensuring a positive impact during their short Same Day Surgery journey.
This role is based at Lakeview Hospital, the Level II trauma center in St. Tammany Parish.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care before and after surgery, review patient history, set up IVs, and monitor vital signs.
- Educate and prepare patients and their families on home care after discharge.
- Perform required clinical documentation and pre- and post-operative assessments.
- Monitor patients after surgery for pain, complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
- Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
- Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or, when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively or safely.
- Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
- Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
- Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.
- Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
- 2 years RN flex experience.
- BSN.
- 1-year related experience.
- Days (United States of America).
