Position: Registered Nurse (RN)- Sign On

Job Summary

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a licensed 104‑bed center that specializes in treating adult and adolescent patients. We are searching for full‑time Registered Nurses (RNs) for day shifts to work with adolescents aged 5‑11 in the Adolescent Unit and provide inpatient treatment that alleviates distress, promotes stability, and improves patients’ ability to live productive and satisfying lives.

Compensation

Sign‑on bonuses: $10,000 for day shifts and $15,000 for night shifts. Hourly rate $34 – $42 with a $5.00 – $6.30 per hour shift differential for nights and weekends. Flexible scheduling model.

Registered Nurse Essential Functions
  • Assess patients’ physical and behavioral health needs, coordinate care and develop nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records, educate patients and families about health conditions, and ensure compliance with nursing practice regulations.
  • Document and monitor physicians’ orders, ensure legibility of verbal orders, and transcribe appropriately.
  • Continuously assess patients’ status and gather pertinent information for documentation.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in status, such as medical emergencies or medication response issues.
  • Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission, tailoring them to assessed needs.
  • Use universal precautions in direct patient care, administer medications accurately, and record controlled substance administration.
  • Process admissions and discharges efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain therapeutic rapport while respecting professional boundaries, personal space, and detachment.
  • Direct or coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co‑workers, and other inpatient treatment stakeholders.
Education / Licensure / Experience / Skill Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing school.
  • Current RN license in the state of employment (or eligibility to practice nursing).
  • At least one year of nursing experience; prior psychiatric, mental, behavioral or substance use nursing experience preferred.
  • CPR certification and de‑escalation and restraint certification required (training provided on hire).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
