Grounds Specialist

Our associates celebrate lives. We celebrate our associates. Entry‑level role learning a variety of manual responsibilities related to the funeral industry. Performs manual labor for the care and maintenance of cemetery burials, monuments, and services. Maintains equipment in working order. Performs work with attention to safety of work environment and others.

• Learn to perform a variety of manual labor related to the funeral and cemetery industry.
• Install outer burial containers, lower device set up, burial, entombment, and interment openings and closing procedures (including proper hand‑digging graves and disinterment).
• Use and maintain jackhammers, tamps, equipment, and tools.
• Load, haul, and unload various equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Set up tents, artificial turf, and chairs for services; clean materials as needed.
• Break down tents, chairs, turf, and store them properly.
• Empty garbage cans.
• Perform grounds‑keeping duties such as mowing lawns, blowing, edging, bundling debris, clearing snow or ice from pathways, and similar duties.
• Maintain tools, tents, chairs, and all‑terrain vehicles in a clean, safe working order including sharpening tools and washing or vacuuming vehicles.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and storage shed.
• Notify manager of damaged equipment or that it needs service or repair.
• Apply safe work practices and use personal protective equipment.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Complete required training as assigned and prior to deadline.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record to operate company vehicles.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability and willingness to learn, listen, and apply constructive feedback.
  • Ability to use manual hand tools.
  • Ability to drive all‑terrain quad vehicles with hitched trailers.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills to record timesheets and required training.
  • Process and continual improvement driven.

• Work Environment:
  Work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
• Work Postures:
  Frequent continuous sitting, kneeling, or standing up to 6 hours per day; frequent bending and stooping.
• Physical Demands:
  Physical effort requiring manual dexterity to dig using manual tools; lift, carry, or haul up to 50 lbs.

May work beyond standard hours or schedule as business needs arise.
