Summary
Receives and verifies items against receiving documents, notes discrepancies and reports findings. Moves materials or merchandise to the storage area, selects specific storage locations, and stores, stacks or palletizes items in accordance with prescribed storage methods, considering factors such as size, weight, quantity, spoilage, pilferage, and safety to others. Rearranges and takes inventory of stored materials or merchandise, compiles and forwards inventory data for manual or automated systems, and examines stock for deterioration and damage.
Locates and moves designated items from storage for shipment, ensuring that shipments are properly labeled, packed or crated. May operate material handling equipment when incidental to performance of warehousing duties and assists the Material Manager in the inventory process by updating inventory sheets and participating in the yearly inventory count.
- Ability to receive, discharge, process and assemble orders to be issued or shipped.
- Knowledge of safe handling practices and storage of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge and ability to perform safe lifting techniques with repetitive motion.
- Ability to organize medical products and equipment files using Purchase Order / Invoice system.
- Receives all materials delivered to the facility by various vendors.
- Properly disburses all materials to various locations in the warehouse and facility.
- Makes corrections, deletions and adjustments to quantities of materials stocked in relation to the PAR level replenishment systems throughout the facility.
- Verifies receipt of goods to packing slips to assure accuracy.
- Maintains all areas of storage in a neat and organized manner.
- Forwards information pertaining to critical back‑order situations to the Materials Manager.
- Assists in the weekly purchase of goods.
- Ability to operate all equipment utilized in transporting materials.
- Performs any duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.
- Pre‑codes and submits orders for inventory in an expeditious manner.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the overall function of the Materials Management Department.
- Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties.
- Completes duties in a time‑efficient manner.
- Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
- Provides assistance to other departments when available.
- Examines the stock and compares contents to specifications on the invoice, purchase requisition, or purchase order upon receipt of merchandise.
