Ice Cream Operator

Job Purpose

This position performs routine duties of handling, packing, and casing products. The role also regularly assists in line sanitation and production floor clean‑up functions. It is usually seasonal, and in the event of a temporary layoff or workforce reduction, hand‑packing duties are scheduled first among this group. Employees are expected to champion specific skills and coach others.

• Perform all job functions in the safest manner possible.
• Execute all assigned steps in the production and packaging of product, observing quality and notifying appropriate personnel of potential quality problems.
• Ensure compliance with all sanitary procedures and policies.
• Observe and correct product position to ensure safe and undamaged mechanical processing and/or wrapping/casing of finished product as per count, assortment, and arrangement specifications.
• Casing product cartons.
• Keep work area clean and free from obstructions, debris, etc.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• Ability to learn all functions of assigned production lines quickly, as dictated by production rate.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds.
• Prior experience in a production environment and/or food production or handling is preferred.

• 12‑hour night shift: 6pm – 6:30am, 2/2/3 schedule
• 12‑hour day shift: 6am – 6:30pm, 2/2/3 schedule
• 3rd shift: 10pm – 6am

Location:

Covington, TN
Pay Range: $17.75 per hour + $2 for night shift differential.
Paid bi‑weekly.

Variable, consisting of the office environment, the mix room, and the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, or heavy lifting. The position may require standing, stooping, moving equipment, bending, reaching, or lifting for prolonged periods. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and sanitary footwear.

Employees may be exposed to allergens such as dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean, and cinnamon. Exposure to chemicals and gases such as ammonia may also occur.

Ability to frequently bend, stoop, lift overhead, push, squat, and carry up to 35 pounds. Monitoring and quality assurance tasks require an adequate level of sight and smell.
