Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other Pharmacy Department duties, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, enter patient data accurately, and fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
  • Assist, coach, and develop pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers when PTCB certified.
  • Adhere to Walgreens policies such as the Pharmacy Code of Conduct, Good Faith Dispensing, and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers in locating products.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention and process manual third‑party claims for prescription services.
  • Support pharmacy inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
  • Assist pharmacy staff with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics, and supporting external providers.
  • Maintain relationships with the local medical community through outreach, detailing, and networking events.
  • Ensure the pharmacy department's exterior and interior are adequately stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Comply with company policies, maintain respectful coworker relationships, and complete special assignments as required.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, proactive help, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied.
  • Develop strong relationships with high‑value customers.
Operations
  • Under pharmacist supervision, assist in practice of pharmacy, review and comply with Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, or Store Manager, including system entry, prescription preparation, verification, and workflow scheduling.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to error and quality policies.
  • Register all sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash responsibly.
  • Conduct telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and perform other clerical tasks as directed.
  • Support inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
  • Assist with clinical services (blood/urine samples, clinic coordination) as required.
  • Build relationships with local medical providers through detailing and outreach.
  • Maintain an orderly pharmacy department, ensuring adequate supplies and cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all company policies and maintain a respectful work environment.
  • Complete special assignments as needed.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification or registration.
  • Attend training, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification (preferred).

Salary Range: $20.5 - $24 / Hourly
