Responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during each transaction, and express gratitude to every guest. Prioritize guests over tasks by circulating throughout the store.
  • Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
  • Address guest comments or questions in person or by phone, ensuring prompt, courteous, and professional service.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Maintain a clean, organized store, and ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety procedures, and handle bank deposits as required.
  • Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products on the selling floor.
  • Support store management in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposits are completed accurately. Maintain sufficient cash and change for sales transactions.
  • Check shipments for discrepancies and report issues to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Assist with closing procedures and monitor packages/belongings as needed.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures and provide timely feedback on associate performance to store management.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
  • Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.

  • Exceptional guest service skills; provide genuine and friendly assistance to every guest.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Meet performance expectations including attendance, professional dress, and grooming.
  • Operate the POS system and complete required paperwork; basic math and alphabetizing skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team to complete tasks timely.
  • Problem-solving and judgment abilities; follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to handle bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
  • Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
  • Remain effective under pressure and manage stress appropriately.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift merchandise up to 30 lbs.
