Job Overview

Girard Resources & Recycling, LLC is currently taking applications for a full-time position as a Heavy Equipment and Dump Truck Mechanic Apprentice. We have a fleet of dump trucks, crushers, screens, excavators, chippers and loaders. We have an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with an appetite for knowledge and growth to join our team as a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking vehicle performance and fluid levels, changing oil, changing filters, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Assist with complex repair tasks, guided by an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and ensure workplace cleanliness.
  • Learn to use diagnostic tools and interpret findings to address mechanical issues.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and dump trucks.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Perform service repairs and maintenance work on mobile equipment and crushing plants.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic, fuel, and air brake systems.
  • Team player with a strong willingness to learn, proactive, and strong communication skills; ideal for hands‑on work in a mechanical environment.
