Job Summary
The E911 Dispatcher/Jailer operates the 911 system, assigns law enforcement and other emergency services providers to calls for service, and communicates important public safety information to emergency responders and the public. The E911 Dispatcher/Jailer is responsible for the care and custody of prisoners while they are in jail in accordance with Oklahoma Jail Standards.

- Operation of two-way radios, telephones, copy machine, fax machine, word processor and computer related equipment and programs.
- Organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
- Exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively deal with injured, angry or difficult callers.
- Control personal and emotional reactions to all situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to learn applicable laws, ordinances, department rules and regulations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to learn the City’s geography.
Any equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum Education RequirementsGraduation from a high school or GED equivalent.

Primary Work LocationPolice Department Communications Center. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
