Custodian , Kennedy Elementary

This position is eligible for a $200 hiring bonus after 5 working days of employment.
Hours: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm during the school year; 7:00 am – 4:00 pm during the summer.
Wage: Starting $18.34 per hour.

The custodian reports directly to a Custodian Level II, III, or the Director of Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds. The role involves maintaining the assigned building or office space and surrounding area with minimal supervision, ensuring it remains clean, orderly, and safe. Additional duties are performed as required.

• Sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors.
• Dusting, cleaning, and polishing furniture and woodwork.
• Emptying and cleaning waste receptacles.
• Cleaning restrooms, washing windows, and walls, and polishing metal work.
• Maintaining equipment and materials; assisting with kitchen and cafeteria equipment cleaning.
• Assisting in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; setting up auditoriums or classrooms for special events.
• Performing minor non‑technical repairs such as painting and fixing furniture.
• Replacing light bulbs, refining surfaces, and handling paper cleanup on grounds.
• Keeping the area around the building free of litter, snow, and ice at entryways.
• Maintaining custodian storage closets in a clean and orderly manner.
• Reporting unauthorized student presence after hours to the principal.
• Conducting routine maintenance work during summer months, including painting, plumbing, and carpenter tasks as directed.
• Providing friendly and courteous service to the public.

• Experience or ability to perform custodial duties in an educational setting.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform routine maintenance tasks.
