DescriptionMoffat County School District is looking for a motivated, caring, and enthusiastic person to fill a Special Education Teacher position at Sunset Elementary.
SalaryTeacher salary is commensurate with education and teaching experience. Base Salary Starting at $51,000.
Education and ExperienceMinimum requirement – Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university. Flexible, works well with a team, dependable, loves kids, good classroom management, good people skills and communication. Should be familiar with working with at‑risk populations and associated interventions, familiar with State and Federal IEP reporting requirements, and have a good understanding of collaborative processes and data dialogues.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsEligible or already in possession of a Colorado Teaching License or certificate endorsed in Special Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Along with parents and classroom teachers, the Special Education teacher will assess students' skills to determine their needs and develop and implement Individualized Education Programs for each student based on their specific needs and abilities. Monitor the progress of these programs and update them as needed.
- Teach and mentor students one on one, in small groups, or as a class.
- Organize and assign activities to students based on their individual needs and learning abilities.
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals and staff who work with individuals with disabilities.
- Develop clear success criteria that is used as an instructional tool for students.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, administration, and colleagues.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and in‑service training programs and serve on staff committees as required.
- Maintain records and make such reports as required and directed by the administration.
The employee supervises students in the class, parents and volunteers.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
