Job Summary

Assistant Principal at GOAL High School, serving at‑risk students in a technology‑enhanced, award‑winning environment. Provides instructional leadership, student discipline, budget oversight, and a safe, effective learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the principal with leadership, direction, supervision, operations, and accountability of academic and non‑academic duties.
  • Provide on‑site direct support to faculty, staff, and students while ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Monitor implementation of professional development and instructional efforts in accordance with the school improvement plan, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote an effective, safe alternative learning environment for diverse students and prepare them for graduation, college, and careers.
  • Implement and monitor behavioral expectations and policies, including attendance trends, truancy interventions, and safety issues.
  • Engage parents and community partners, fostering positive relationships.
  • Collect and analyze student assessment data to support recruiting, retention, and graduation.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate school projects, curriculum, achievement reporting, and events.
  • Manage site budgets according to GOAL’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clear communications and effective relationships with all staff.
  • Develop and enforce consistent policies and procedures for students, parents, and employees.
  • Supervise employees, including instructional leadership, work assignments, evaluations, discipline, and issue resolution.
  • Possess a general understanding of charter school laws.
  • Model professional and ethical standards in interactions with students, parents, staff, and community.
  • Meet professional obligations with efficient work habits, respecting deadlines and schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid Colorado Principal’s License.
  • Must reside in Colorado and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Two years of experience as a secondary teacher, secondary counselor, or equivalent.
  • Three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a school.
  • Preferred:
    Two years of online experience and/or with at‑risk youth;
    Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of school leadership within an online school setting.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, public relations, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, facilitation, management, decision‑making, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with appropriate judgment.
  • Proficiency with technology and application of problem‑solving skills to tech issues.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative decision‑making skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills, ability to mediate conflicts among students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

    Cold ≤50°F or Heat ≥90°F; gases, fumes, heights, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, walking on uneven surfaces, solvents;
    National or international travel.
