SummaryA Paraprofessional-Teaching Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in helping students learn and stay safe.
Salary$17.68 - $27.40 per hour – Aide Classified Salary Schedule, dependent upon experience.
Education and ExperienceMinimum of 49 college semester hours preferred or have passed the Work Keys Assessment Skills Test.
QualificationsData collection skills, ability to follow direction, flexible, positive, works well with kids and a team, professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in teaching students how to become independent and responsible at school.
- Assist with specialized needs that may include behavior, learning, self-help skills and/or communication.
- Assure that students learn at their own level and have their specialized needs met.
- Collect or gather data.
- Run small learning groups.
- Prepare or set up activities and materials for the next rotation, period or day, help students with self-care tasks.
- Monitor students during class, transitions, lunch or breaks.
- Provide instructional support individually or in small groups.
- Provide one-on-one instruction.
- Meet with teachers.
- Provide accommodations for students to have access to classroom instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills- Language – read, write, comprehend simple instructions.
- Mathematical – add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning – solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Other – establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear. Occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentNoise level usually moderate to loud. Employee spends most of coaching time inside.
