Position Summary
The full‑time substitute position is scheduled to work every day that school is in session and substitutes for any vacancies that were not filled. The substitute may cover teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals or aides.
SalaryDaily rate: $120 without certification; 1 year substitute authorization – $135 per day; 3 years – $145 per day; 5 years – $155 per day.
Education and ExperienceActive Colorado substitute authorization (minimum one year). Must complete a background check before working.
Responsibilities- Report to school 10‑15 minutes before the start of work.
- Check in with building secretary.
- Follow the teacher’s or other employee’s lesson plan or, if unavailable, develop a plan with input from building administrator, other teachers, aides, and students.
- Supervise, aid or instruct assigned students.
- Assist teachers and other employees as needed.
- When leaving, report to office, submit summary of day’s work and necessary reports, and leave the desk, books and room in good order.
The normal workday matches that of the teacher you replace. Duties may include playground or crosswalk supervision, and may be conducted outside the building. The substitution may last the full duty of the teacher and may be extended by the principal. If assigned to a long‑term substitute, additional after‑hours activities, such as parent‑teacher conferences, may be required but are not reimbursed.

Qualification Requirements- Language:
Read and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals; present information to administrators, staff, and the public. - Mathematics:
Calculate figures (discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumference, volume) and apply algebra and geometry concepts. - Reasoning:
Solve practical problems and interpret various written or oral instructions. - Other skills:
Apply current research and theory to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons; maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community; communicate clearly and concisely. - Physical demands:
Sit, stand, walk, talk, run, stoop, kneel, lift/move up to 50 lbs, push items of 75 lbs or more; maintain required visual acuity.
Typical noise level is loud, with responsibility for student safety, work output, and well‑being.
