Job SummaryEvaluates pupils referred as potential candidates for Special Education program. Provides expertise in assessment, child development, and child behavior for students.
SalaryCertified Salary Schedule, commensurate to education and experience. Range $56,243 - $116,845 annually.
Education and ExperienceMasters or Ph.D. in psychology. Flexible, works well with team, dependable, good classroom management, enjoys working with children, good people skills, and communication.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsIn possession of or eligible for State of Colorado Special Service Provider License for Psychologist issued by the Colorado Department of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Functions as a member of the District Special Education Team, assisting in the assessment, identification and resolution of problems which impact directly upon the student’s academic achievement.
- Completes cognitive and emotional/behavioral assessments, as needed, of students referred for Special Education evaluation.
- Attends staffings as required by PL 94-142 in the determination of any handicapping condition, and the sharing of information for educational planning.
- Assists in identifying and discussing curricular implications from assessment data pertinent to the development of the Individual Educational Plan.
- Provides affective services to students identified as handicapped, as determined by the IEP, including individual and/or group counseling, or as an alternative intervention prior to Special Education referral.
- Provides necessary consultative services to Special Education personnel, teachers, counselors and parents.
- Participates in interagency staffings pertinent to needs of identified students.
- Assists Director of Special Education in program administration.
- Committed to keeping abreast of new developments in the field (literature, seminars, in-service).
Supervises students while present. Parents and/or volunteers as needed.

Additional InformationSalary/pay rate is determined based on qualifications and experience relevant to the job description requirements. Full pay range may be found on the appropriate salary schedule. Employees hired new into a position are rarely qualified to receive maximum of the pay range shown on the salary schedule.

Skills:
Ability to read and analyze general counseling periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the general public.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to work with probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plan and solid geometry, trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
