Compensation Range: $17.77 to $23.17
-hourly/paid bi-weekly

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • This position is NOT a hands-on position. Safety Supports do not provide medical care or security.
  • Perform the function of Safety Support pursuant to the 1 on 1 Monitoring Policy by complying with the Safety Support continuous observation responsibilities.
  • When on standby, respond to the Memorial Regional Health Emergency Department within 30 minutes.
  • Maintains awareness of patient safety needs and remains attentive to any activity in the patient room.
  • Works with staff to inventory patient’s personal belongings and keep them secure.
  • Monitors visitors by notifying medical staff of any non-conformity to patient safety recommendations made by the provider.
  • Reports relevant observations and interactions to RN and clinical staff assigned to care for the patient.
  • Provides appropriate support to the patient and family.
  • Provides resources regarding mental health services to the patient and family.
  • May assess patient’s basic living needs and provide information to the RN and Social Worker.
  • Interacts with the staff in a way that best serves the patient’s needs.
  • Reports to Emergency Behavioral Health team with Safety Support forms, scheduling conflicts/gaps, and other concerns as they arise.
  • Adheres to the MRH mission and service model to patients and community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates 100% commitment to performance in accordance with the CHOICE values of MRH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff, and vendors.
  • Adheres to MRH attire/dress code per policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity; self-motivated; and manages activity and time.
  • Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; and attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated time frames.
  • Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Strives to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  • Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for driving positions with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • N/A

Experience:

  • Prior healthcare experience preferred
  • Prior experience in behavioral health or peer support preferred
