Purpose:
To coordinate and implement an individualized plan of care for each patient using the nursing process, practicing within their scope, standards, policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Requires prioritization and critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Complies with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
- Uses evidence-based practices and competence to collaborate with the healthcare team to provide quality outcomes and coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance.
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
- Practice according to professional and ethical standards as noted in the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrates caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family teaching as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication, fostering positive working relationships with patients, staff, and vendors.
- Adheres to the MRH attire and dress code in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Exhibits initiative and self-motivation; maintains a consistent level of productivity and manages time and responsibilities effectively.
- Completes all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates; actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes as required.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established time frames.
- Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
- Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver's license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Education, Licensure(s), and Certification(s)Required:
- Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or be obtained within six (6) months of hire).
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
- Current STABLE certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
- Two (2) years hospital nursing experience.
- One (1) year Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience.
