Department Information

This position is only open to Colorado state residents

New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

This position requires that you obtain your CDL Permit within 30 days of hire and your CDL Class A within 120 days of hire as a condition of continued employment. This position will require either a pre-employment drug test (if you currently have a regular driver's license) or a DOT drug test (if you already have your CDL Permit or CDL) as a pre-employment step.

As part of the process to obtain your CDL permit, you will be required to take a DOT physical and DOT drug test.

This position also requires you obtain your Certified Operator weed spray license with the Right of Way category within 12 months of hire.

Description Of Job About the Work Unit

The purpose of the Maintenace work unit exists to maintain the Colorado Department of Transportation highway system and facilities to as near original conditions as constructed utilizing available resources, personnel, equipment and material, ensuring a safe roadway for the traveling public.

About The Position

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has a vacancy for an experienced trades worker for our R3, Section 6 buildings. This position will perform building maintenance repair, replace, preservation or remodel to include installing doors, windows, locks, walls, ceilings, and gutters. Position will repair or replace carpet, tile, concrete, lighting, plumbing and electrical fixtures; build shelves, move and repair furniture, snow removal and related trades.

This position will use power hand tools including circular saw, table saw, drills and a variety of tools and equipment used for building construction and snow removal.
