Biology Adjunct Faculty – Lecture & Lab (Evening Courses)
Position:
Biology Adjunct Faculty for General Biology (Majors and Non Majors), Human Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology – Fall 2026. Campus:
Cranford, Elizabeth, Plainfield. Department:
Biology. Full-time/Part-time, Adjunct, Exempt or Non-Exempt, Regular, Temporary, or Grant.
- Teach assigned courses as per catalog description and approved syllabus.
- Incorporate interactive approaches, technologies, and methods whenever possible.
- Integrate diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into the curriculum.
- Utilize library resources, writing instruction, computing, and other academic technologies in courses.
- Meet all scheduled class meetings.
- Advise on absences in a timely manner to the Division Dean/Assistant Dean.
- Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean or Student Records Office.
- Submit grades by the published deadlines.
- Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use assessment results for course planning.
- Ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment necessary for teaching.
- Submit progress reports on students for counseling, athletic oversight, and record‑keeping, and discuss any student issues with appropriate professionals.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures.
- Master’s Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
- Some teaching experience is required.
- Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview; official transcripts upon hire.
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Certification or license as required.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates.
- Willingness to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques.
- Commitment to incorporating library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
- Knowledge of competency‑based education.
- Commitment to out‑of‑class interaction with students.
- Fundamental competency in information technology.
- Commitment to continuous assessment of the teaching‑learning process and its outcomes.
- Commitment to continual professional growth and development.
- Demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
This position is performed in a typical interior/residence work environment. Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds may be required. The employee must take into account limited exposure to physical risk and some travel may be required.
