Chemistry Adjunct Faculty – Lecture & Lab (Day Courses)

Position:
Chemistry Adjunct Faculty teaching General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Chemistry of Forensic Science for the Fall 2026 semester at Union County Community College.

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with the course catalog, syllabus, and posted schedule, using interactive approaches, technologies, and methods when possible.
• Incorporate diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into the curriculum.
• Integrate library resources, writing instruction, and computing/academic technologies into courses.
• Attend all scheduled class meetings and be available for in‑person or online teaching as required.
• Notify the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of any absences in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean or Student Records Office.
• Submit final grades by the published deadline.
• Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use assessment results in course planning.
• Plan in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment needed for successful instruction.
• Submit student progress reports for counseling, athletic oversight, and record‑keeping purposes; discuss student issues that may require special attention with counselors and appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to all college policies and procedures.

• Master’s Degree in chemistry or a related discipline (unless otherwise specified).
• Some teaching experience at the community‑college level is required.
• Certification or license as required for the discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates.
• Willingness to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques.
• Commitment to incorporating the library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
• Knowledge of competency‑based education.
• Commitment to providing out‑of‑class interaction with students.
• Fundamental competency in the use of information technology.
• Commitment to continued assessment of the teaching‑learning process and its outcomes.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
• Demonstrated mastery of subject matter in chemistry.
• Must submit unofficial transcripts prior to interview; official transcripts required upon hire.

• Position performed in a typical interior classroom setting; occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.
• Limited exposure to physical risks.
• Some travel required.

Part‑time adjunct faculty position. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
