Position Title:
Physics Adjunct Faculty Lecture & Lab (EVENING COURSES) – Summer 2026
Faculty member’s responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, advising students, maintaining academic records, and participating in assessment of learning outcomes.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses in accordance with the catalog description and approved syllabus, incorporating interactive approaches and technologies when possible.
- Incorporate appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
- Use the library, writing, computing, and other academic technologies in courses when appropriate.
- Attend all scheduled class meetings.
- Advise the Dean or Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Student Records Office.
- Submit grades by the published deadline.
- Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use results for course planning.
- Plan in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment necessary for teaching.
- Submit progress reports for counseling, athletic oversight, and record‑keeping purposes, and discuss any student problems with counselors and other appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures.
- Master’s degree in Physics or related discipline (unless otherwise specified).
- Some teaching experience at the community‑college level required.
- Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview; official transcripts upon hire.
- Certification or license as required for teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates.
- Willingness to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques.
- Commitment to incorporating library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
- Knowledge of competency‑based education.
- Commitment to providing out‑of‑class interaction with students.
- Fundamental competency in the use of information technology.
- Commitment to continual assessment of the teaching–learning process and its outcomes.
- Commitment to continual professional growth and development.
- Demonstrated mastery of subject matter of the discipline.
- Typical interior/residential work environment.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds.
- Limited physical risk exposure.
- Some travel required.
Term:
Part time; faculty must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
