Part‑Time Instructor – Intuit Quick Books Certified User (QBOCU) Certification Program

The Continuing Education & Workforce Development Department seeks a part‑time instructor to teach the Intuit Quick Books Certified User certification program. The program blends in‑person sessions with on‑demand online modules and prepares students to pass the official Certiport Intuit Quick Books Online Certified User exam.

General Description

Instructors will deliver training focused exclusively on Quick Books Online functionality—such as company file setup, user permissions, contact and inventory list management, and core financial reporting—without covering foundational accounting principles.

Responsibilities
  • Provide QBCU instruction using the established curriculum from UCNJ Union College.
  • Teach only the approved curriculum, avoiding foundational bookkeeping concepts.
  • Conduct lectures and practical labs aligned with Quick Books navigation and exam requirements.
  • Deliver quality instruction, assessment, and feedback in lecture and laboratory settings.
  • Instruct in traditional, hybrid, or fully online formats, including remote live sessions and asynchronous modules.
  • Monitor student performance on pre‑ and post‑assessments, motivate participation, and give constructive feedback.
  • Guide students through core workflows: contact list management, income/expense tracking, invoicing, checks, bills, and bank feeds.
  • Maintain accurate institutional records, including attendance, midterm reporting, and final grades.
  • Assist with ongoing course and program evaluations to refine curriculum and exam readiness.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field or advanced certification from an accredited college/university.
  • Certification:
    Official Quick Books Certified User or Quick Books Certified Pro Advisor designation preferred.
  • Instructional

    Experience:

    Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Industry

    Experience:

    Minimum 5 years in accounting, finance, or financial administration.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Advanced knowledge of Quick Books Online and other cloud‑based accounting software.
  • Adult Learning:
    Proven experience in corporate or vocational training.
  • Communication:
    Ability to clearly translate complex digital procedures into actionable lessons.
  • Learning Management System:
    Experience with Canvas or similar LMS.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Ability to work with leadership on course evaluation and improvement.
Competencies & Skills
  • Deliver technical content strictly following course outlines and certification requirements.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and quickly master new curricula and digital platforms.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal communication to support program development.
  • Master cloud‑based workflow, automated invoicing, expense tracking, and navigation skills for the certification exam.
  • Teach face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online sessions with remote‑live tools and virtual labs.
  • Evaluate student work via assessments and provide actionable feedback and motivation.
  • Multi‑task and pace lectures and simulations for accelerated curriculum readiness.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role is performed in a typical office environment. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds may be required. No significant physical risk is anticipated.

Terms of Employment

Part‑time, project‑based assignment contract. Courses may be held at campus locations in Elizabeth Cranford or Plainfield.
