Valley Bank is seeking a Banking Service Professional, Personal Banker who will support sales and service activities within the banking office, educate clients on banking products, and uphold Valley's service standards. The role involves providing a variety of banking solutions by analyzing needs, recommending solutions, and selling bank products and services to existing and potential clients. The position includes performing routine banking transactions (teller and platform) and supporting the Market Manager to achieve quality service and comply with procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service in line with Valley's mission statement; engage customers with friendly and professional service.
  • Know and educate customers on all bank products and services; cross-sell where appropriate.
  • Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust and gather customer information; analyze needs and recommend suitable products and services.
  • Meet with customers to analyze financial needs, maximize sales opportunities, open new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs), discuss and sell loan products, and promote online and mobile banking capabilities.
  • Meet customer expectations and service quality standards; participate in and oversee the sales referral process; assist management in coaching branch staff.
  • Perform transactions accurately using appropriate technology; maintain and balance cash; assist customers with Teller Scanning Equipment, Cash Recycling/Cash Dispensing machines, and Coin Machines.
  • Act as Vault Teller to ensure adequate cash for daily transactions; assist in ordering and distributing cash within prescribed limits.
  • Support community involvement and CRA initiatives, activities, and programs as appropriate.
  • Report significant matters and unusual customer activity to the Manager; maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank's Code of Conduct and policies and procedures.
Requirements Required Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write correspondence and demonstrate products and services accurately to customers.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, attentiveness, information retention, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to resolve complex customer issues.
  • Ability to make sound on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; balance customer satisfaction with risk to the Bank.
  • Ability to interpret varied instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Deep understanding of Retail Banking with strong customer service skills to engage customers in conversations about products and services.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and high accuracy; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Required Experience
  • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of business services experience in branch banking or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).

Additional Information

Pay range: $17.74 - $29.57 per hour. The actual pay rate depends on qualifications and experience.
