American Sign Language (ASL) – English Interpreter
The interpreter will interpret English to American Sign Language (ASL) and ASL to English for deaf students during class sessions, meetings with professors and other faculty and staff members, college events, and other situations at Union College.
Education Requirements- Associate’s degree required.
- Must have graduated from an American Sign Language Interpreting Program.
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf certification (NIC) helpful.
1–3 years of experience in educational interpreting.
Competencies and Skills Required- Fluency in American Sign Language interpretation.
- Ability to convey the thought, intent, and spirit of a speaker to a deaf or hard‑of‑hearing person.
Typical interior work environment. May occasionally lift or relocate up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.
SalaryUSD $65 per hour.

Termsof Employment
- Part‑time (as needed); not to exceed 25 hours per week.
- Hourly rate based on certification and experience.
- Flexible schedule; evening, weekend, and extended hours may be required.
- Willingness to travel on short notice to on‑ and off‑campus sites.
- Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless exempted.
