- Defend government entities, agencies, municipalities, and public employees in civil rights litigation
- Handle cases involving Section 1983 claims, NJCRA constitutional violations, and government liability
- Manage litigation from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
- Draft and respond to motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and qualified immunity defenses
- Represent clients in state and federal court, including appearances at hearings, mediations, and trials
- Collaborate with government officials, risk managers, and co-counsel to develop legal strategies and ensure compliance with public sector protocols
- Draft legal opinions and provide risk assessments for public entity clients
- This is a great opportunity for an attorney with prior experience at the Attorney General's Office who is looking to transition to private practice
- J.D. and licensed to practice in New Jersey
- Minimum of 2 years of civil rights litigation experience
- Prior experience at the Attorney General's Office (current or former Deputy Attorney General preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with Section 1983 litigation, NJCRA, qualified immunity, and governmental immunities
- Experience representing or working with public entities, municipalities, or state agencies
