General Description

Responsible for assisting in the coordination and daily operations of the Union College campus food pantries. This position supports pantry staff, maintains inventory, assists with distributing and stocking donations, and upholds pantry standards and guidelines.

• Assist with the daily operation of the food pantry locations on the Cranford, Plainfield and Elizabeth campuses.
• Check students in and out for each visit based on established pantry guidelines.
• Support students who visit the pantry and enforce pantry policies and procedures.
• Oversee the upkeep of the pantry to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Assist with unloading, stocking, and storing food deliveries and donations.
• Support the pickup and fulfillment of food donations and orders.
• Manage pantry inventory and report supply concerns to the Coordinator as needed.
• Provide support for pantry-themed programs and workshops, including regular produce distributions.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma required.

Experience: Prior food service and/or customer service experience is preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the general public, faculty, and staff.
• Commitment to student service and a diverse population.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving up to 30 pounds.

This position is normally performed in an interior work environment. Some physical effort is required, including lifting/moving up to 30 pounds. Some travel may be required.

$18.00 per hour.

Part-time hours not to exceed 25 per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekend, and extended hours may be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on- and off-campus sites as needed. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless exempted.
