Johnstone Supply, North America’s leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies, is seeking a COS Material Handler/Driver.
The role involves receiving, filling, shipping products, and safe transport to customers and store locations.

Responsibilities
  • Operates basic power equipment (electric pallet, walkie rider, sit‑down forklift) to locate, put away, stack, and move checked‑in products.
  • Receives product, inspects freight, verifies quantity, and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Ensures required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers.
  • Fills orders by picking, packing into cartons, scanning, and sorting.
  • Documents shipment of hazardous materials.
  • Prepares orders: palletizes, wraps, loads, and places packing lists.
  • Maintains current accuracy and efficiency standards and follows all standard operating procedures.
  • Participates in inventory cycle counts and related projects.
  • Assists in maintenance of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and reports maintenance concerns.
  • Wears protective equipment, accesses MSDS as needed.
  • Maintains required hazardous materials, forklift, and other certifications.
  • Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers.
Driving Responsibilities
  • Maintains positive relationships with customers through accurate and timely delivery.
  • Serves as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service expectations.
  • Safely operates company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness of inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, checks deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
  • Prepares routes and follows schedules and deadlines for tasks.
  • Drives straight‑body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor for delivery instructions.
  • Communicates delivery, traffic, safety, or customer issues to supervisor.
  • Records sales and/or delivery information, completes manifests.
  • Returns vehicle at end of day, verifies fuel, completes monthly driver log.
  • Returns gas receipts, monies, vehicle inspection logs, and other paperwork.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
  • Required
    :
    • High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Preferred
    :
    • 6+ months of experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility, preferably in HVAC/R or related field.
    • Experience with a picker, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
    • Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
    • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
Certificates, Licenses, And Registrations
  • Valid drivers’ license with a safe driving record; must remain eligible to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Utilize technology: GPS, mobile POD, RF equipment, ERP software; read maps accurately.
  • Perform basic arithmetic with all units of measure.
  • Work safely in all job tasks.
  • Operate delivery vehicles and power equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker, lift gate.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering large or heavy products within safety guidelines.
  • Familiarity with warehouse or distribution center management systems and order picking processes.
  • Follow instructions and procedures.
  • Organize and prioritize work.
