Shuttle Van Driver

Under general supervision, propels a college‑owned vehicle to safely shuttle students within the Cranford campus and between campuses. May be called upon to transport students to special events off‑campus.

• Provides consistent transportation service in a safe, pleasant, helpful and effective manner to students of the college community.
• Maintains a daily record of shuttle usage in collaboration with the Public Safety Department.
• Notifies the Facilities Department when the vehicle requires repairs, refueling or detailed cleaning.

• Education Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous driving experience.

  Must meet the following to be included on the Union College Approved Vehicle Operator’s list:
  • New Jersey valid driver’s license and violation‑free driving record.
  • Certification from a Defensive Driver Course by the National Safety Council or an equivalent pre‑approved program.
  • Alternatively, possession of a CDL, a Driver Safety Instructor’s Course Certificate, or another equivalent mandatory document as determined by the Director of Public Safety.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment: Routine duties performed in a vehicular traffic environment. Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds; limited exposure to physical risk; some travel required.
• Must submit to a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.

Salary: $20 per hour.

Part‑time seasonal position during academic semesters (fall, spring, summer). Monday through Friday between 9 am–5 pm; not to exceed 25 hours per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on‑ and off‑campus sites as needed.
