Summer Early Childhood Special Education Evaluation Team
- Special Education Teacher

(upto 2 positions 1 bilingual)

Location: Pre-K Office

Dates: July 6, 2026 - August 20, 2026

Hours: Monday – Thursday from 8:15 a.m.

-12:45 p.m.

Staff will remain on site during these hours

Pay Rate: $40/hr Contingent upon funding

Up to 28 days - days TBD

Note:

No work August 10th
- Holiday

Job Description

Under direction of the Director of Early Childhood and Chief of Student Support Services, the special educator will evaluate, write reports, write IEP’s and case-manage pre-k students currently going through the evaluation process.

Education, Training, and Experience
  • Knowledge of RI Regulations Governing Students with Disabilities
  • Training in RI Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Training in completing Child Outcome Summary documents.
  • Experience in writing developmentally appropriate, standards-based IEP goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Implementation and analysis of District assessment tools
  • Experience with the PK special education evaluation procedures, IEP and report writing,
  • Powerschool and Skyward
RIDE Requirements

Certificate required by the State Department of Education Current Rhode Island Teacher

Certificate(s) in appropriate subject area

  • ECH Sp. Ed. PK-2 and ECH PK-2

ESL Preferred

Description of Duties, Responsibilities and Curricular Linkages
  • Extensive coursework and/or experience in the education of young children and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience writing IEPs that are developmentally appropriate for children ages 3-5.
  • Experience working with families of young children with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of current research and teaching strategies for young children with disabilities.
  • Explicit knowledge and training in using the DAYC and other educational tools for evaluating young children.
  • Ability to complete case management activities – including but not limited to updating Powerschool and Skyward.
  • Writing reports and IEPs reflecting the RI Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Knowledge of techniques that address the development of positive social behavior
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team with other professionals and families.
  • Serve as a member of the Team of Qualified Professionals
  • Experience with completing COS forms.
Minimum Qualification Standards
  • Training in the RI Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Completes documentation of progress as it relates to IEP goals and objectives.
  • Completes summary report to include progress and continued need for skill development.
  • Completes any/all duties assigned by the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services Administrators.
  • Must commit to work all days
