Description

Teacher Assistant / Transition Specialist

At Cornerstone School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to build independence, confidence, and the skills needed for life beyond the classroom. We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Teacher Assistants to join our vibrant school community while helping support students through meaningful transition-focused learning experiences.

Cornerstone School, a division of Access Point RI, provides individualized educational and therapeutic services to students with diverse learning needs in a supportive and collaborative environment. Together, we are empowering children and adults with differing abilities to grow, achieve, and thrive within their schools, communities, and future opportunities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping students develop academic, social, vocational, communication, and daily living skills that promote greater independence. As a Teacher Assistant, you will work closely with Lead Teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to support students both inside and outside the classroom through hands-on, student-centered instruction and transition-focused programming.

In this role, you'll help students strengthen the real-world skills needed for adulthood, including communication, community engagement, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and activities of daily living. Whether supporting classroom instruction, assisting during community-based activities, reinforcing vocational skills, or encouraging independence in everyday routines, your work will have a direct and lasting impact on each student's future success.

If you are patient, dependable, collaborative, and passionate about empowering students with unique abilities to reach their fullest potential, we invite you to join a team where your work truly matters every single day.

  • Monitor and document student progress on academic, behavioral, and transition-focused goals in a timely and accurate manner
  • Utilize multiple learning modalities and evidence-based strategies to support student engagement and success
  • Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleanliness, and maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, toileting, feeding, and changing students as needed
