Position

Certified Teacher – Technology Teacher at Cranston City School District, Cranston, Rhode Island.

Job Start

August 21, 2026.

Essential Functions
  • Facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students.
  • Establish a nurturing learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Implement useful assessment measures.
  • Select and use effective instructional methods and learning materials.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians.
  • Engage in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job‑related knowledge and skill development.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve the overall philosophy and mission of the District.
  • Adhere to a strict policy of complete confidentiality for all student information.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare lesson plans, seating charts, schedules, daily routines, and related materials for substitutes.
  • Monitor student health needs and report signs of eyestrain, hearing loss, abuse or neglect.
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom and implement realistic problem‑solving techniques.
  • Provide basic counseling assistance to students in need of direction and personal support.
  • Report to the designated teaching station on time and contribute to school‑wide initiatives such as assemblies and clean‑up programs.
  • Maintain records, including grade reports, attendance, and student evaluations.
  • Communicate with parents and the community, responding within a reasonable time frame to requests and keeping parents informed of their child’s progress and any required after‑school care.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, common planning time, professional development, and district committees.
  • Ensure proper arrangement of the classroom, faculty room, and school resources, following established policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Current Rhode Island teaching certificate in a relevant content area.
  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Terms of Employment

Full‑time position. Employment is governed by the agreement between the Cranston School Committee and the Cranston Teachers’ Alliance.
