Our client is seeking an experienced IBM Power9 iSeries / AS400 System Administrator to support and manage their AS400 infrastructure. This role is primarily focused on the IBM iSeries Power9/AS400 platform, though experience with IBM Mainframe systems is a plus.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the administration of two AS400 systems, each containing three LPARs (Production, UAT, Development). The role includes system maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and coordination with third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform systems programming on IBM Power9 iSeries (AS400) systems, including both System/36 and Native modes.
- Maintain and monitor all IBM iSeries systems and HMC infrastructure.
- Execute PTF and firmware upgrades, resolve system errors, and manage system security.
- Oversee daily backups and Replication/Disaster Recovery (DR) processes.
- Manage system journaling of databases and address system issues as needed.
- Install and configure AS400 software applications and third-party system tools.
- Engage with third-party vendors for support and troubleshooting.
- Support client emulation configuration and connectivity.
- Administer user and device configurations on AS400 systems.
- Maintain and update AS400 security policies.
- Manage inter-system security and networking, including agency-to-agency interfaces.
- Support the development, maintenance, and execution of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP/COOP).
- Collaborate with EOC operators and programmers on technical and business processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience with IBM iSeries Power9 / AS400 systems.
- Familiarity with IBM Mainframe environments is a plus.
- Strong understanding of backup systems, system journaling, and security protocols.
- Ability to manage LPARs and high-availability environments.
- Experience working in government or enterprise-level environments preferred.
