Job DescriptionDevelop into a Quarry Manager role by supporting all aspects of site operations, including safety, production, cost control, and team leadership. The employee will be responsible for the manufacturing process and/or sales functions to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee and direct all aggregate operations, including quarry development, drill/blast, aggregate plant operations and mobile equipment maintenance and selection at assigned locations.
- Be responsible for all site activities not specifically managed through other lines of business.
- Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities operate safely.
- Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintain full compliance with federal and state regulations, including MSHA and DEP.
- Maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
- Assume cost responsibility for assigned facilities, striving to lower costs and increase productivity through efficiency and innovation.
- Conduct daily shift start‑up meetings with plant and quarry personnel to discuss safety, quality and performance goals.
- Review and maintain accurate cost and production forecasts.
- Conduct annual evaluations of direct reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and work rules; discipline when necessary and document performance issues.
- Assist with all PJK training initiatives.
- Ensure workplace cleanliness and safety, covering crusher, office, storage and yard areas.
- Collaborate with other PJK personnel (equipment, admin, delivery, construction, and sales staff) to maximize profits and minimize conflicts.
- Maintain proper job records such as schedules and personal diary.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, supervisors, customers and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring as needed.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Foster technical and leadership development of subordinates and recommend new job opportunities when appropriate.
- Manage employee performance through coaching, feedback, rewards, and discipline when necessary.
- Appraise performance and address complaints in a timely manner.
- Lead by example and ensure work is completed through effective delegation, scheduling and time‑management practices.
Protective equipment required: gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, eye protection, high‑visibility clothing, respiratory protection, and safety (hard‑toe) shoes.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in construction aggregate production management.
Language SkillsAbility to read, interpret and summarize documents, reports and company manuals; write detailed correspondence; present information effectively and respond to questions from management, staff, customers and the public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios and percentages; interpret bar graphs; knowledge of trigonometry.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to recognize problems, formulate reasonable solutions, interpret data from reports and project specifications, and apply facts to establish solutions.
Computer AbilityProficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word and scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.) for communication and data analysis.
