Position Summary

The Painter/ Packer is responsible for painting manufactured products using spray painting equipment. They also pack , label and box finished products . They follow standard practices and procedures to ensure that painting and packing is performed in an efficient manner . The y also maintain necessary tools and materials needed for painting and packing , keep their workspace clean and organized, and update work performed in the Enterprise Resource Planning system.

  • 100% accuracy on any inventory transactions and quality requirements
  • 100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviations
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews job information in ERPsystemdailytodetermineorders to process.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and supplies needed for painting products and packing the production orders.
  • Selects appropriate paint color and connects spray gun to the pump.
  • Regulates the width and pressure of paint spray by adjusting the sprayer valves and nozzle as needed.
  • Directs spray onto the product surface using proper technique; may use brush for touch-ups as needed.
  • Checks for quality of paint job upon completion.
  • Maintains and cleans spraying equipment, flushes out lines, etc.
  • Packages finished products and any necessary materials manually in accordance with Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS) and Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Obtains finished products that need packing based on orders in ERP system.
  • Inspects materials, finished products and boxes at each step in the packing process to identify any visual defects.
  • Assembles, labels and date stamps boxes.
  • Attaches name plates to products.
  • Inserts the finished products and any other necessary materials or paperwork into boxes.
  • Places packed products in appropriate area per packing requirements.
  • Rotates between different workstations as production needs require or to reduce fatigue.
  • Examines work completed by team members for accuracy and continued operations as well as safety.
  • Moves materials as needed.
  • Ensures maximum output for work area; manages time effectively in order to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes.
  • Performs final inspection for accurately packed products and quality; reports any issues to Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Updates the ERP for work performed.
  • Maintains required documentation as directed.
  • Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; ensures equipment is in good operating condition
  • Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and wears personal protective equipment as required.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 months of spray-painting experience in a production environment preferred
  • Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systems
  • Must successfully learn specific responsibilities as assigned and adhere to production procedures
  • Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and able to attain MPS training sign-off within 90 days
  • Physically able to operate spray paint equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to pu sh, pull, lift and/or move materials of up to 30 lbs ; capable of using hoists for materials over 30 lbs .
