General Production – Batch Maker
The General Production – Batch Maker sets up and prepares chemical batches according to detailed work orders and recipes. This role handles compounding, blending, and mixing of materials, accurately documents all measurements and production data, and maintains a clean and organized work area in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Set up equipment and workstations for batch production in accordance with work orders and production schedules.
- Prepare and mix batches by following compounding and blending recipes with a high level of accuracy.
- Measure and handle liquids and chemicals using liters, gallons, and other standard units.
- Use strong math skills to calculate, verify, and record measurements, including decimals, on production travelers and logs.
- Operate mixers and related production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete all required production documentation, travel logs, and batch records clearly and accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work station throughout the shift.
- Handle powders, chemicals, and compounds in line with established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Lift and move materials and products, including containers up to 50 lbs., as part of daily production tasks.
- Support overall production goals by working collaboratively with team members and adapting to changing batch and line requirements.
- High school diploma or GED (required, no exceptions).
- Previous experience in batching, compounding, blending, or similar production roles.
- Experience working with chemicals in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to understand and work with liquid measurements, including liters and gallons.
- Strong math skills, including adding, subtracting, and working with decimals for accurate documentation.
- Ability to read and write in English to follow work orders, recipes, and safety instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as part of routine job duties.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a powder maker, chemical batcher, mixer, or compo under in a production setting.
- Familiarity with documenting work using production travelers, travel logs, or similar tracking tools.
- Comfort working with various chemicals and compounds in a process-driven environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to following standardized recipes and procedures.
This facility is investing in growth, with a new building addition and expanded production lines driven by increasing sales of new product lines. You will join a growing operation that produces specialized materials used in plating applications, offering the opportunity to develop valuable experience in a niche manufacturing environment and contribute to the success of an evolving, production-focused team.
Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility that produces chemical products and precious metals used for plating applications. The environment includes active production lines, mixers, and chemical processing equipment, and the facility has a noticeable odor due to ongoing chemical manufacturing. Work involves standing for extended periods, handling chemical materials and powders, and operating production equipment in a process-oriented setting.
Standard industrial safety practices apply, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment as required for working around chemicals and production machinery.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cranston, RI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
