Maintain a high level of presentation and cleanliness while pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise in any department; provide accurate, friendly and efficient checkout service; scan items accurately, collect payment, provide change, and perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy.
MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to make change with all denominations of American currency.
- Ability to stand or walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Adherence to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
- Operate equipment as required, e.g., case cutter and U‑Boats.
- Stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
- Provide customers with superior service.
- Maintain a neat, well‑groomed appearance and observe dress‑code policies.
- Work with a wide variety of fresh, dried, processed products, spices, and powdered substances.
- Tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Work in varying temperatures from cold to hot.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas.
- Meet all work schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
- Maintain department sanitation and QA standards, including cleaning surfaces, utensils, equipment, sweeping, mopping, removing cardboard and trash, operating baler or compactor.
- Check products received against invoice.
- Use slicing machine and related equipment where applicable.
- Prepare and replenish product for sale in any department where applicable.
- Operate equipment with safeguards in place and in good operating condition; observe safe methods.
- Comply with store rules, Company policies, safety, security standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Dress according to policy (white shirt, black pants, apron, name badge).
- Follow QA hand‑washing standards; use disposable gloves when handling unpackaged foods.
- Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
- Follow procedures for receiving, coding dates, preparing, storing, price marking, scaling, restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy, and rotation.
- Adhere to all regulations for all departments.
- Keep displays stocked, properly turned, faced.
- Control freshness, quality, and temperature of product using safe food‑handling procedures.
- Understand cash register operation and follow cash‑handling procedures.
- Accurately identify and scan product; process all forms of accepted payment, collect proper payment, provide change.
- Handle damaged or return‑to‑stock products per policy, prioritizing refrigerated, perishable items, and sell‑by‑date.
- Know HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer’s label instructions for chemicals.
- Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance; report failures immediately.
- Remove trash to designated area and operate baler.
- Complete price changes as directed.
- Utilize and maintain equipment; report problems immediately.
- Complete all department training programs.
- Retrieve carts from parking lot.
- Must be 18 years old or older to operate baler, hi‑los, power jack, slicing machine.
- Perform other duties as required.
Part‑time work hours: flexible scheduling (days, evenings, weekends). Weekly average hours 12–25, fluctuating weekly.
Part‑time training requirements: all team members receive paid training and must complete all essential components within 30 days (web and hands‑on).
