ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000

Agawam Hunt, is a historic 1897 Donald Ross and Geoffrey Cornish design located in Rumford, RI. We are seeking a motivated and driven Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for an individual looking to advance their career, contribute to agronomic improvement, and take part in elevating golf course and grass tennis courts conditioning standards at a property experiencing strong support from the membership.

Agawam Hunt is home to championship golf, tennis, and racquet programs, offering a classic layout rooted in strategic Donald Ross architecture. The Club continues to invest in infrastructure and course quality, creating an excellent environment for a developing assistant superintendent.

The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to execute maintenance programs, train staff, and maintain high presentation standards. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a willingness to collaborate across departments.

• Daily crew leadership and job assignment
• Course setup and playability inspections
• Assist with plant protect ant programming and application
• Moisture management using soil probes and moisture meters
• Hand watering to maintain firmness and turf health
• Irrigation troubleshooting, repair, and scheduling
• Cultural practices including aeration, topdressing, over seeding, and disease monitoring
• Recordkeeping and inventory tracking
• Training and mentoring staff
  
  Support for tennis turf operations as required

• Strong work ethic and passion for turf management
• Leadership capability and desire to grow professionally
• Ability to maintain standards and lead by example
• Effective communicator who values planning and organization
• Experience on classic/New England style golf courses is beneficial
