Teaching responsibilities include three courses each semester, with possibilities including an introductory course in general psychology, research methods and statistics, and intermediate and advanced courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
The Psychology Department has five full time faculty whose teaching and research span five different areas of the discipline (Cognitive Psychology, Developmental, Social, Sensation and Perception, and Behavioral Neuroscience). The department has a strong culture of mentoring student research, including guiding senior capstone research projects. Both the department and the College have a history of supporting new faculty with generous funding for research and professional travel, providing robust faculty development opportunities through extended new faculty orientation, faculty development workshops, and a peer mentor program.
