- Specialized Instruction: Deliver targeted instruction to meet the goals and objectives outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Classroom & Behavior Management: Employ effective classroom and behavior management techniques to create a safe, functional learning environment for all students.
- Student Evaluation & Reporting: Observe and assess students' academic and social development, maintain detailed records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents about individual student progress.
- Instructional Approaches: Apply total communication or auditory/oral training methods in a self-contained setting to enhance learning outcomes.
- Fluent Communication: Provide instruction in Signing Exact English and American Sign Language, using both modalities as appropriate for different subjects and settings.
- Assistive Devices: Adjust hearing aids, FM units, and cochlear implant processors as needed, following audiologist's directions to meet the needs of individual students.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Valid Indiana Professional Educators License with endorsements in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe classrooms and for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience: Desired teaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children or in a regular classroom. Knowledge of assistive listening devices and related technology.
- Background Check: Criminal Background and DCS Clearance check.
- Eligibility to Work: Eligibility to work in the US.
- Environment:
Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes. - Activity:
Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations. - Sensory:
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
