Science Teacher

The science teacher is responsible as the primary instructional person in the classroom. Teacher must have strong relationship-building and communication skills and be well-versed in specific content area of science. Teacher also must be able to track student achievement and growth to reflect on practice with continuous professional improvement as a lifetime goal.

Requirements:

● Promotes educational experiences of students in grades 6-8 through developmentally appropriate resources and classroom differentiation

● Promotes active learning through a variety of instructional methods and strategies

● Implements district-approved curriculum maps for the content area of social studies for respective courses teaching

● Collaborate with department teachers and cross-curricular teachers for the improvement of overall instruction

● Develop lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for students to be active learners

● Effectively communicate with all stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, etc., when necessary

● Supervise middle school students in a variety of settings

● Maintains professional qualities expected of an educator and maintains a continuous learning attitude toward the profession

● Maintain appropriate student records and grading as they relate to school policies and guidelines

● Ability to be either the sole instructor of a classroom setting or co-teach with respective staff members

● Perform other duties as assigned

Certification Requirements:

Valid Indiana Science Teaching License or ability to obtain license
