Job Summary The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of materials based on planning requirements and serves as the primary point of contact between suppliers and Operations. This role manages purchase orders, monitors supplier deliveries and performance, supports material availability, and maintains accurate purchasing information to help ensure production efficiency and strong supplier relationships.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Analyze material requirements and identify potential supply risks, coordinating expedites and escalations as needed.
- Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) based on material requisitions from Planning.
- Follow up on open POs, supplier commitments, shipments, cross-border activity, and material receipts.
- Execute material requirements including pull-ins, push-outs, and cancellations, and communicate results to Planning.
- Monitor supplier delivery and performance issues and escalate concerns to Operations and Sourcing.
- Support resolution of material receiving holds and invoice holds.
- Communicate required updates to supplier parameters such as price, lead time, MOQ, and standard pack.
- Support phase-in/phase-out activities, material deviations, returns (RMA), and split purchases.
- Conduct open-market research and analyze Purchase Price Variance (PPV) according to Sourcing approvals.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and accurate purchasing data.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced English.
- Experience or knowledge in Procurement and Planning.
- Knowledge of MRP and Kanban.
- Supply Chain knowledge, including logistics, import/export processes.
- Ability to use and interpret data to determine purchasing needs and support inventory management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on system/data accuracy.
- Strong communication, supplier relationship management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership.
Travel Requirements Availability for up to 25% domestic travel.
