As a ground worker apprentice, you will work on construction sites learning the basics of groundworks through hands‑on experience, including preparing sites, digging trenches for foundations and drainage, laying concrete, kerbs and paving, and supporting experienced ground workers while following strict health and safety rules. Alongside working on site, you will attend college or training blocks to build your technical knowledge and work towards a Level 2 qualification, earning a wage while developing practical skills for a long‑term career in construction.
** The apprenticeship course will cover the following:

- *** Work safely and securely in line with the information given, organisational policies and procedures, and current health, safety, and welfare regulations, including protocols for working in contaminated soils.
* Adhere to efficient working techniques and complete duties following the work schedule
* Choose the required resources, such as tools and fittings transfer, manage, and store resources in compliance with relevant laws and standards.
* Choose and use basic equipment under the supervisor’s direction, such as tape measures, levels, straight edges, lines and pins, boning rods, and laser equipment.
* Construct, maintain, and dismantle temporary barriers and structures for the work area, such as protection, safety signs, and safety lighting
* Carry and install concrete, then compress and finish it on slabs/bases, footing oversights, paths, form slab edgings, reinforcing placement, and kerbs.
* Install flags, pavement, and edging along walkways, driveways, and other areas.
* Install access covers and frames, as well as gully grates and frames, as well as preparatory brickwork.
* Prepare to relocate cars, plants, or equipment, then lead and supervise their relocation.
