Expected Hire Pay Scale*:

Treasury-Tax Analyst I: $2,096.20 - $2,311.06

Treasury-Tax Analyst II: $2,257.39 - $2,488.77

* Current County employees may be eligible for a higher step placement per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The County of Del Norte Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one (1) vacancy for the position of Treasury-Tax Analyst. This position is classified as full-time.

Under indirect supervision, coordinates all aspects of banking and cash management between the Treasurer’s Office and various County departments, School District and Special Districts. Assists in the day-to-day functions of the Tax Collector’s Office and performs related work as required. This work consists of complex and high level financial, technical and paraprofessional duties. This classification is exempt from the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

Essential job duties may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list’ it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all of the duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Receives deposits of currency, checks, and coin daily from County departments, the School District and Specials Districts. Prepares cash deposits and delivers to the bank daily. Deposits checks electronically through a remote deposit process daily.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the Treasury, including balancing the Treasury daily, all cash and non-cash transactions, deposit verification, banking, e-banking, auditing and warrant control.
  • Forecasts daily cash flow (revenue and expenditures) for the County, School District and Special Districts’ operational needs.
  • Facilitates effective communications between the Treasury and County departments; clarifies and reconciles issues relating to daily cash management.
  • Prepares a monthly report which summarizes the Treasury’s financial activity, disbursements and receipts, based on daily operations.
  • Reviews, assesses, validates and reconciles accounts; checks accuracy and completeness; works with financial institutions regarding questions, concerns, discrepancies and other banking related issues.
  • Assists the Tax Collector’s Department in responding to inquiries from the general public, realtors, title companies and mortgage companies related to tax payments, tax delinquency, special assessments, and transient occupancy taxes.
  • Assists the Tax Collector’s Department in processing tax payments and court related County debt.
  • Assists the Tax Collector’s Department in billing, processing of payments, monitoring and establishing Transient Occupancy Tax accounts.

Any combination of education, training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Treasury-Tax Analyst I:
  • Equivalent to a High School Diploma or GEDwith college coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration or closely related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in financial record keeping, cash handling and bankingthat includes two years of experience in a public sector agency; county government is preferred.
Treasury-Tax Analyst II:
  • Equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED with college coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration or closely related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for equivalent experience.
  • Four(4) years of experience in financial record keeping, cash handling and banking that includes fouryears of experience in a public sector agency; county government is preferred.
Special Requirements :
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license.
