Summary
You will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator with National Park Service. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately mid-December to the end of November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. (2 weeks / 1 pay period).
MajorDuties
- Operates gas- or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loaders, trench diggers, and large Industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.
- Operates equipment to push, pull, pile, excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth and/or refuse.
- Operate vehicles with auxiliary attachments (e.g., snowplow blade, rotary snow blower, mower, sweeper, sanding units) to perform duties related to roads maintenance.
- Uses equipment to perform such functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials to maintain ditches, road shoulders, and beds.
- Operate various types of equipment and trucks on congested roadways, in inclement weather and on steep and narrow roadways.

- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.

- You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on‑call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
- You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority.
- You must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education;
or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part‑time during the school year under a formal student employment program. - You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles.
