Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Clerk II to work at the Reception and Classification Center. This position is responsible for verifying mittimus and court papers, interviewing individuals in custody during the intake process, and performing clerical duties. In addition, they will respond to inquiries from individuals in custody regarding calculations, grades, and good time. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
Essential Function 2
* Verifies mittimus and court papers.
* Interviews individuals in custody during the intake process into the Reception and Classification Center.
* Performs clerical duties.
* Responds to inquiries from individuals in custody regarding questions or concerns dealing with calculations, grades, and good time.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
* Requires two (2) years clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience maintaining and updating records and files.
* Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience calculating data while checking same for accuracy and completeness.
* Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience tracking and logging information.
* Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience maintaining and managing a complex filing system and electronic email system.
* Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience in a customer service setting responding to inquiries.
* Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting.
Conditions of Employment
* Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
* Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
* Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
* Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
