Overview

Joliet Montessori School has been serving children ages 2.5-15 and their families since 1966! Our deeply rooted school was started by a group of passionate founding families who were attracted to and believed in this new method of teaching in the mid-sixties when Montessori education was beginning to have a name. The spirit of those families continues to breathe life into JMS as second and third generation families enroll their children to keep this iconic legacy alive.

We are seeking an experienced and energetic educator to join its faculty as a Primary Guide to work with children ages 12-15 in the  school year.

Guides are responsible for creating and maintaining a developmentally appropriate environment for the primary child; planning, observing, record-keeping, and executing lessons. Guides inspire a love for learning in students and create nurturing, engaging environments where every student feels included. Candidates must be interested in continually improving their teaching, and welcome coaching and support.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related area plus one of the following:

• AMI3-6 diploma
• AMS 3-6 certificate

• Strong spoken and written communication skills and a willingness to be a team player
• Adds in a positive way to the faculty culture, including being a trusted and supportive colleague, contributor to the professional development of others, and creating a predictable and supportive environment for students
• Enthusiastically engages in service to the school community and beyond
