Early Learners Pk Teacher

Position Overview:

Funded by the Illinois State Board of Education's Preschool for All Grant, this position supports a half-day morning preschool classroom at Richland School (Crest Hill) and a half-day afternoon preschool classroom at Milne Grove School (Lockport). Applications are being considered for candidates who wish to work the complete 1.0 FTE position and for those candidates who wish to job share and work .5 FTE (Monday through Friday, half days).

Qualifications:

Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education with a PEL that includes an Early Childhood Education Endorsement Early Childhood ESL endorsement Early Childhood Special Education endorsement. Ability to work successfully with diverse populations Excellent communication skills, including verbal, listening, and written Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information High level of professionalism and ethics

Performance Responsibilities:
Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of Lockport SD 91 Identify student needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) that meet State and Federal Guidelines Develop lesson plans, and instructional materials that allow for the provision of individualized, whole group, or small group research-based instruction and also allows students access to the general education curriculum Implement and support students' Individual Education Plan, including long-range goals and short-term objectives Effectively communicate with parents by means of newsletters, e-mail, notes, phone calls and individual parent conferences, etc.

Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning that supports optional educational experiences Foster cooperative social behavior through activities/group projects, and assist students in forming satisfying relationships with staff and peers Screen and provide instructional supports for English Language Learners Evaluate student academic and social/emotional growth by monitoring individual education plans, behavior plans, progress reports, and determine the least restrictive environment that can meet the student's needs Conduct ongoing assessments of the academic, behavioral, emotional and physical performance of each student Confer with parents/guardians, teachers, support staff, specialist, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academic problems Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare all reports and paperwork as required by federal and state laws, district policies, and administrative regulations Provide adequate information/data for all IEP meetings and conferences when considering placement or reassignment of students Establish and maintain ongoing communication with standard and special services staff for all assigned students Discuss student problems, behavioral incidents, positive developments, and progress with parents in an honest, sensitive, and confidential manner Assist students with personal needs, including toileting and diapering, as needed Promote parent participation and involvement in educational activities and IEP meetings and decisions Work cooperatively with the parents and community Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals;

and, work cooperatively, with the appropriate administrator to evaluate their job performance Maintain CPI certification Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Principal or Director/Asst. Director of Special Services

Evaluation:
Early Learner Teachers are evaluated by the administration. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel, developed pursuant to State law.

Full-Time Salary and Benefits are based on Lockport School District 91's collective bargaining agreement FLSA Class:
