Southwestern Community College is seeking a Coordinator of CDL Driver Training Program. This is a full-time, on-site position located on the main campus in Creston, IA.

This position oversees the daily operations of the CDL training program, including instruction, scheduling classes, and ensuring compliance with DOT and college policies. The coordinator also assists with curriculum planning, monitors student progress and performance, and managing third-party testing schedules. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate program records, communicating with students and prospective applicants, and collaborating with internal departments and external partners to promote the program.

The role also involves contributing to program improvement, supporting safety initiatives, and helping students prepare for CDL Class A testing and employment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years commercial driving expertise, including CDL Class A and practical Truck Driving experience.
  • Operational skills related to Truck operation, including manual transmission experience, proficient backing ability, and safety practices.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT Regulations and compliance requirements for commercial driver training programs.
  • Ability to coordinate training schedules, manage resources, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, instructors, and industry partners.
  • Previous experience in driver training, transportation, or related education programs is preferred with an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education or relevant certifications in transportation or education are beneficial.
