Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of System Studies and Simulation (S³), providing a variety of aviation services to commercial, Government, and Partner Nation customers.
KBF S has locations in Temple, TX;
Crestview, FL; and Geneva, AL. KBFS currently holds certifications for CFR 14 FAA Part 133 (External Loads), 135 (Non‑Scheduled Transport), 137 (Agricultural Spray Operations), 141 (Flight Training), and 145 (Repair Station). In addition to its current commercial operations, KBFS provides contract aviation support to the Department of Defense, other US Federal Agencies, and US‑approved Foreign Militaries and security organizations. The S³/KBFS Crestview, FL International ISR Training Academy provides pilot, mission system operator, flying crew chief, and loadmaster qualification training in air‑land, airdrop, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission sets.
KBFS Geneva provides Fixed Base Operations support for the Geneva Municipal Airport and is the recipient of the 2023 FAA Award for Airport Manager of the Year under Manager Bryan Pike. KBFS Temple provides Flight Training, Aircraft Maintenance, and Avionics support, and Commercial Aviation Operations.
Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) has an immediate opening for an A&P Mechanic II to support our operations in Temple, Tx.
Military experience is a plus. This is not a teleworking position.
DescriptionThe employee will be responsible for the repair and installation of all categories of avionics and navigation equipment for rotary wing and fixed‑wing aircraft, including radios, navigation equipment, instrumentation, and NVG compatible cockpits. Installs fixed‑wing autopilot systems and should have hands‑on familiarity with fabrication, installing new instrument panels, and other items required in extensive cockpit modifications. The individual conducts testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on all commercially available avionics equipment.
Responsibilities- Ensure that all repairs are properly performed on all completed work prior to release to the customer.
- Ensure that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms typically used by a Part 145 Repair Station are properly executed.
- After proper inspection and verification of operability, the Avionics Technician has the authority to sign Return to Service in accordance with FAA Regulations.
- Prepares aircraft maintenance forms and records and ensures all maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
- Assists the Part 145 Accountable Authority in scheduling avionics repairs, considering such factors as workflow, location of equipment and facilities, tools, supplies, and job requirements.
- Coordinates with KBFS Temple's Logistics Specialist for ordering parts and supplies in sufficient quantities to ensure minimum to no aircraft downtime due to supply.
- Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
- Makes entries to FAA‑required records, logbooks, and other means of tracking historical data.
- Maintains an inventory of parts, tools, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Communicates effectively with customers, KBFS flight instructors, and maintenance manage.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Holds an FAA Airframe (License) Certificate or be eligible to receive an Airframe Certificate with limitations as determined by the KBFS Part 145 responsible agent.
- Has served as a repair station Avionics Inspector.
- Leads avionics maintenance teams and supervises subordinate mechanics.
- Possesses SME knowledge of aircraft avionics systems.
